EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched method of psychotherapy that has helped people heal from a wide variety of traumatic and disturbing life experiences ranging from physical, sexual and emotional abuse to major life losses, accidents, surgeries, natural disasters, and many other stressful life experiences.

EMDR therapy uses eye movement to activate a natural healing process within the brain. This process engages both the left and right hemispheres as well as multiple levels of your brain’s experience toward healing.

EMDR has also helped people gain more confidence, ease, security, and peace in themselves, their relationships, and life situations. EMDR therapy supports healing from specific and known challenging experiences as well as from pervasive ways of thinking and feeling that have their roots in past unsupportive situations or environments.

Martha uses a trauma therapy approach that combines EMDR and somatic body practices. Because everyone experiences trauma differently, I’ll work with you to custom create a trauma therapy approach that best supports and addresses your unique history and therapeutic goals.
