MINDFULNESS
Pema Chodrom says, “You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather.” In mindfulness awareness, we learn to create space to witness our thoughts, emotions and sensations without being run by them. With attention to breath, movement or everyday activities, mindfulness helps us be present in our moment to moment experience without judgement.
Research on mindfulness has shown that mindfulness increases our immune function, reduces stress, aids our neurological functioning, increases our feelings of well being, and decreases anxiety and depression.
Socially, people who practice mindfulness report greater satisfaction in intimate relationships, greater empathy, and stronger parenting skills.
Martha brings mindfulness meditation practice into each of her sessions, helping clients cultivate an inner witness and detach from painful thoughts. Clients learn to create space within themselves for what is present in this very moment.
